Fashion Business & Design

The programme is taught and has been carefully designed by leading fashion designers and fashion business professionals. Students will benefit from a combination of applied fashion theoretical lectures, group work, and analysing real case studies from renowned brands (for example, Maison Margiela™ and Off-White™) enabling students to gain an early, distinct edge in the highly competitive fashion industry.

In design, students will develop a deep understanding into the complete process of how a fashion collection comes to completion. Students will gain insight into the different roles in a design team and what skills are required for each role, supporting them to make informed career-path decisions based on their skill sets. Case studies from acclaimed brands that our professionals have worked on themselves will be analysed to understand how and why design processes differ across maisons.

In fashion business, students will understand the importance of entrepreneurship in fashion as well as developing an appreciation of how the industry contrasts from the perspectives of buyers and sellers. Professionals will provide insight into how exactly sellers can sell their brand in today’s market (analysing the differences between large brands vs. independent showrooms), and how sellers can go about marketing and leveraging the influencer economy. A deep dive of the role of a buyer in today’s industry will also be carefully considered and supplemented with relevant, high-profile case studies.

Additionally, students will have the opportunity to participate in an exclusive Q&A session with leading designers and business professionals in fashion as well as benefit from a portfolio review for those wishing to apply for top fashion and art schools. Advice and guidance will also be provided to students on university and A-Level / IB choices to maximise their career options and enhance their likelihood of breaking into the highly competitive fashion industry.
